Attending Psychiatrist, Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, is now accepting applications for a full-time, employed faculty position in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior. Applicants should have qualifications to meet at least junior faculty rank. Applicants must have an M.D. / D.O. degree and be certified in General Adult Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with subspecialty certification in Consultation Liaison Psychiatry preferred.
This full-time position will be focused on inpatient consultation and outpatient clinical work. The Department's Division of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry has an established tradition of clinical excellence and scholarship. Our outpatient and hospital programs are highly regarded resident training sites and include practice of various types of psychotherapy and state-of-the-art pharmacologic consultation Our educational programs emphasize the interface of psychiatric and medical disorders and provision of the highest possible outpatient care, with emphasis on psychotherapy.
Candidates must be flexible clinicians, comfortable providing psychiatric consultation to medically ill patients with psychiatric, behavioral, and addiction problems in a variety of inpatient and specialty care settings. Candidates must also have interest in working in the Department's outpatient faculty practice and training clinics. The mix of outpatient duties can be tailored to candidate interests. Some outpatient care will provided via an innovative telemedicine interface used by our faculty. The Consultation-Liaison Service and Outpatient Practice are core training sites for medical students, residents, and fellows, so the successful candidate will be a dynamic clinical educator.
The position reports to the Director of the Division of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and Director of Outpatient Psychiatry. Primary hospital sites are the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience and Methodist Hospital which are located in Center City and South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The position includes participation in the faculty weekend call schedule, which involves on-site and telephone coverage about every six weeks.
