Attending Psychiatrist, Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, is now accepting applications for a full-time, employed faculty position in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior. Applicants should have qualifications to meet at least junior faculty rank. Applicants must have an M.D. / D.O. degree and be certified in General Adult Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. The successful candidate will have superb communication and interpersonal skills in order to provide leadership to a multi-disciplinary team.
The Unit Director is responsible for the oversight of all clinical, educational and administrative aspects of our 16-bed Adult Inpatient Psychiatry Unit, including quality improvement and meeting accreditation standards. This a key clinical training service for our educational programs. The candidate is expected to be a dynamic educator for Jefferson medical students, residents and fellows. Attending faculty responsibility includes evaluation of new patients, ongoing care, management of comorbid substance abuse, treating comorbid medical issues with appropriate consultation, and coordination of discharge with social work. Outpatient work is dependent on candidate's interests and expertise.
The position reports to the Clinical Director of Acute Psychiatry Services. Primary hospital site the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Center City Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The position includes participation in the faculty weekend call schedule, which involves on-site and telephone coverage about every six weeks.
