Attending Psychiatrist, Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University, is now accepting applications for a full-time, employed faculty position in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior. Applicants must meet qualifications for at least junior faculty rank. Applicants must have an M.D. / D.O. degree and be certified in General Adult Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Experience and subspecialty board certification in addictions preferred.
The position is for a full-time Psychiatrist with interest in addictions and academic medicine. This position involves providing psychiatric care to patients with substance use disorders within a sophisticated network of established substance use disorders programs, all with experienced multi-disciplinary staffing. The network includes the NARP outpatient program for opioid addiction, MATER for addicted mothers and mothers-to-be, which includes outpatient and residential components, Student Personal Counseling Center at Thomas Jefferson University, and House Staff Counseling Program at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. These programs are highly regarded training sites and the successful candidate will be a dynamic educator who will work with Jefferson medical students, residents and fellows. Attending faculty responsibility includes evaluating and managing patients with substance use disorders, identifying comorbid medical illness and making appropriate referrals, and collaborating with non-physician clinicians to provide high quality care. General outpatient work is possible, based on candidate's interests and expertise.
The position reports to the Director of Division of Substance Abuse Programs and includes participation in the faculty weekend call schedule, which involves on-site and telephone coverage about every six weeks.
