Faculty Psychiatrist F61350 

Virginia Commonwealth University, Department of Psychiatry is recruiting a BE/BC Geriatric Psychiatrist with inpatient and outpatient psychiatry and academic career interests to provide clinical care to geriatric and adult patients with mental health and neuropsychiatric disorders, and supervise/teach residents/medical students, and other trainees. Collaboration with Neurology is available with support. Board certification in geriatric psychiatry and/or experience working with geriatric population is preferred. Faculty are encouraged to participate in collaborative research. Pursuit of scholarly work and professional development encouraged and supported. 

Responsibilities may include: University inpatient service and outpatient clinics, clinics at community location, collaboration with Neurology, education of medical and non-medical trainees, pursuit of scholarship, and (limited) administration. 

All successful candidates will have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU. 

Academic rank is commensurate with experience and scholarly accomplishment consistent with VCU requirements. Opportunities are available for joint appointments. 

VCU Department of Psychiatry employs over 80 fulltime faculty and has well-funded research in genetics addictions, child and women's mental health, and psychopharmacology. VCU is a large urban university with robust health science campus and 750-bed university hospital. 

Richmond, the State Capital, has moderate climate and a rich mix of history with modern facilities, excellent suburban housing, and public/private schools. Low cost of living.
